Basic Civil Engineering

Dnyandeep Foundation,
The subject of civil engineering for first year of engineering degree course deals with many disciplines like buildings, roads, surveying, environmental engineering etc. As civil engineering is the pioneering main branch of engineering, its scope is vast and is increasing day by day.  Naturally, the students find it difficult to get concise knowledge of this subject from number of  books specialized in different sub-branches.
Considering these specific requirements of first year engineering students,  this book was written by Prof. L. G. Gole in 2004 and now its revised 5th edition is published. The author of the book has long experience of teaching civil engineering subjects to degree students at Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli.
He has taken great efforts to  illustrate in simple language  the basic principles of various disciplines coming under civil engineering.  Each chapter includes theory, figures and photographs and  solved design examples selected from examination papers. Many new topics like remote sensing, GIS, Green building and construction projects are included for the benefit of students.  References include books and internet sources. I am sure that the book will be a valuable asset to all the students in understanding the subject matter and apply the knowledge to obtain solutions to problems easily and confidently.
